
Devil’s Hopyard State Park in East Haddam, Connecticut
If you are looking to take in some beautiful scenery in south-central Connecticut, visit the Devil’s Hopyard in East Haddam. Home to a beautiful waterfall and rich history, this park covers 860 acres. During Revolutionary times, Dr. Abner Beebe owned a mill situated on the falls until it was destroyed by locals due to his allegiance to England. There are pothole shaped stones at the bottom of Chapman Falls where local legend has it that the Devil is responsible for creating these holes.
Chapman Falls is the main star of the park, followed by a close second with this beautiful covered bridge.
